Consulting and R&D

The group is available for consulting and contract research and development. We work with public agencies, utilities, engineering firms, and infrastructure owners on problems across our expertise — seismic evaluation and design review, regional risk and loss assessment, wildfire risk quantification, structural health monitoring and sensing, and AI-assisted assessment of the built environment.

Engagements range from short expert consultations to multi-year sponsored R&D. If your organization faces a problem in these areas, get in touch — a short conversation is usually enough to tell whether we can help. Write to Prof. Taciroglu at etacir@ucla.edu.

Prospective students

Prospective graduate students with backgrounds in structural engineering, computational mechanics, geotechnical engineering, or applied machine learning are encouraged to get in touch. Please include a CV and a short statement describing which parts of our work interest you and why.

Admission decisions at UCLA are made by the departmental committee rather than by individual faculty, so please apply through the standard graduate program process in addition to reaching out.
